[Review] A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Wow, what a whirlwind of a book! A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, the 2nd book in the Blood and Ash series, picks up immediately after the events of From Blood and Ash. As Casteel's original plans for Poppy change, and Poppy finds herself uncovering more of the truth kept hidden from her for her whole life, both must deal with growing attractions while making plans to save Atlantia from the encroaching Ascended threat. As big revelations come to light, Poppy learns that her place within Atlantian society might not be as clear as she or Casteel once intended.

What an amazing continuation of the Blood and Ash series. Jennifer L. Armentrout has done it again! A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire sucker-punches its readers with everything you could possibly want: romance, battles, magic, myth, strong females, and gorgeous yet sarcastic and supportive males. Armentrout should write the manual on how to create the perfect book boyfriend, with Casteel serving as a prime example. Both Casteel and Poppy grew so much as characters in this book, and the action - both on the battlefield and otherwise - scorched the pages. At over six hundred pages, each book in the Blood and Ash series is definitely a time commitment (and I may have gotten carpal tunnel from holding up such a large book for so long), but the time is worth it as this story is the best I've read in quite some time. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire will pull you in and leave you begging for more.
