[Review] Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
Boyfriend Material was a sweet, laugh-out-loud (fake) romance between two people who couldn't be better suited for each other.
Luc has had some issues in the limelight. Being a partying son of a rock star can do that - nevermind that Luc hasn't seen his father since he was three. So, in order to revamp his image and save his job, Luc makes a deal with Oliver, a friend of a friend who just happens to need some help of his own. They'll pretend to date, Luc can look socially stable, and Oliver won't be alone at some upcoming parties. It's an easy win-win for everyone. But then feelings get involved, and what started as a simple, fake relationship becomes complicatingly real. To make a future together, both Luc and Oliver are going to have to put aside their pasts and all the baggage that comes with it.
Luc and Oliver made for the perfect romantic read. Every character had such wonderful personality, and every emotion from sarcasm to sadness to love came through in each distinct voice. I laughed so many times at Luc's reactions to everything. I would totally not mind living in this world with this particular group of friends. The writing came across as effortless, and it was very easy to fall into this world and cheer on Luc and Oliver right alongside their mutual friend Bridget. Boyfriend Material is a cute, easy read perfect for any fan of contemporary romance.
