[ARC Review] Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

Publisher's synopsis:
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she
can’t refuse.

My thoughts: I absolutely could not put this book down. Abby Jimenez hit it out of the park with yet another funny-yet-heart-warming (and sometimes heart-wrenching) romance.

I don't know how she did it, but Jimenez managed to put every single trope I don't like into a book and I still couldn't turn the pages fast enough. If Abby hadn't already been an auto-buy author for me, she would for sure be on that list after reading Yours Truly

Briana and Jacob's story just melted my heart. Watching these two characters go from mild hatred and bafflement to letter-writing acquaintances to the perfect match for each other was a story I never wanted to end.

Jimenez perfectly handled social anxiety, from party etiquette to mapping out parking situations and looking up restaurant menus in advance. Jacob will make many readers finally feel seen.

Jimenez's signature writing style is back in full force: funny, poignant, heartfelt, dramatic, and frustratingly beautiful. Briana and Jacob's story - as well as both their families' - had such full lives, even when things seemed bleak, and I could easy read another book featuring our main characters, or Benny, or Jacob's parents.

Between the sacrifice Jacob made and the way Briana so effortlessly adapted to Jacob's anxiety's needs, these two are obvious couple goals. This was not a story of insta-love, but their journey was well worth every page they (and I) waited.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Briana and Jacob's journey was perfect (even when it was full of tropes that usually frustrate me), and I adored every interaction these two had as they got closer. Yours Truly will be a book I recommend to everyone for quite some time.
