[Review] Ouch! My Vampire Doms Built a Scary Dungeon by Calista Jayne
PUBLISHER'S SYNOPSIS: Whips, chains…fangs. It’s a whole vibe.
Something’s going on with my body—some kind of illness. Magical or medical, we don’t know, and it’s freaking out these dominant vampires.
Will throws himself into the kitchen, stress-cooking meals large enough to feed a family of sixteen. Xander buys a whole new library’s worth books, searching for answers.
When the local witch goes missing, though, our cozy library hideaway loses its protections and is plunged into danger. Sick or not, I have to help. Our enemies are closing in and time is running out.MY THOUGHTS: This third novella in the series was definitely stronger in the emotional relationships than the physical ones, but I enjoyed Autumn, Will, and Xander's journey all the same. I feel like this part of the story was a great bridge between Autumn's introduction and her eventual happily ever after with the two guys.
A large focus of this novella was Autumn and the sickness she began showing at the very end of the second novella. While this meant we got a little less spice in this novella, I think it did provide some good relationship building for all three main characters which will hopefully carry them through to the end of their story. I was really happy to see Xander's character development specifically; the changes Xander went through in this novella will definitely be beneficial to the rest of the series.
Outside of the main characters' relationship, there was a lot of building up of the feud between Will, Xander, and Gaius. I'm anxious and excited to see just how far this feud goes in the next three novellas and how it will impact Autumn and her vampires.
With a solid plot, a little bit of spice, and plenty of world building, Ouch! My Vampire Doms Built a Scary Dungeon was a good, middle story in this series.
