[Review] The Librarian Principle by Helena Hunting
PUBLISHER'S SYNOPSIS: Annaliese Harper knows that one tiny mistake can jeopardize a career before it’s even begun. Letting your boss find the extensive collection of porn on your personal laptop is one way. Sleeping with him is another. Liese manages to do both.
As the new librarian at a prestigious small-town private high school, Liese is drawn to her sexy, charismatic principal, Ryder Whitehall—an attraction she refuses to acknowledge given their relationship and her recent liberation from a delusional ex-boyfriend. Liese is certain Ryder’s flirtation is the product of her sex-deprived imagination—until he discovers her digital porn stash during working hours and demands a private meeting.
Behind closed doors, their attraction explodes into a dangerous, passionate affair that not only threatens their jobs and reputations, but most of all, their hearts.

MY THOUGHTS: Given that I'm a librarian who loves to read spicy romance, The Librarian Principle was right in my wheelhouse when it comes to all the tropes I gravitate towards. Liese and Ryder gave more than I was hoping for, while not making me feel icky with the boss/subordinate trope.
Honestly, Ryder and Liese were just the perfect mix of fun, steamy, and dramatic - because, yes, Ryder definitely caused some drama in Liese's life. I usuallly try to avoid too much drama in my romances, but despite all the reasons for it in this book, I never thought there was too much to detract from the romance or overall plot.
I enjoyed the characters throughout this story. I loved the back and forth between Liese and Ryder, and I loved how fleshed out they seemed as characters; between past relationships and family issues, they both came across as fully realized characters. I also really enjoyed Ryder and Liese's friends and coworkers. They all really brought something extra to their story, and there are definitely several characters that I would readily read romances for if Hunting wrote them.
Overall, Ryder and Liese were spicy and managed to work through all their very realistic issues in an enjoyable way. I loved their dynamic from start to finish, from Liese's proclivities to Ryder's stern brunch daddy behavior. This story was steamy and fun, and seeing my profession take center stage was an added bonus.
