[Review] Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez

PUBLISHER'S SYNOPSIS:
They’re falling in love, yet they’ve never met. Maybe fate can intervene in a heartwarming “what-if” short story about new beginnings by the New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly.

Holly is dealing with the impending death of her grandmother and still reeling from a bad breakup. One bright spot: a Valentine’s Day card on Holly’s windshield—even if it wasn’t meant for her. An amusing mistake soon turns into a lovely exchange of anonymous notes, little acts of kindness, and a growing affection between two strangers. What happens when one of them has to say goodbye?

MY THOUGHTS: A Valentine's Day card left for the wrong person is officially the only form of miscommunication I will accept in my romances from here on out. Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite romance writers, and even in a short novella, she does not disappoint.

I loved the interaction between Holly and John, the two main characters. Even though their time face-to-face is brief, I loved the build up and connection they established before they even met in person. Leaving notes and gifts on Holly's car was just super cute. I also loved the little connection to the first novella in this series by way of communication being sent to the wrong person. It was a cute tie-in to the previous book while definitely coming across as it's own, unique story.

Jimenez worked in a lot of her usual romance tropes, albeit in a shorter fashion: a main character in the medical field, an adorable animal sidekick. I loved that these elements I've come to associate with Jimenez managed to still make it into her part of the Improbable Meet-Cute collection. Despite some heavier topics, Worst Wingman Ever was a fun, quick romance that will make you hope for your own, wrongly-placed card on your car.
