--------------------

Our favorite angelic duo is back in Spellbound, the second book in Ava Marie Salinger’s Fallen Messengers series. After all the revelations in Fractured Souls, Cassius Black and Morgan King have happily found each other, but their jobs at Argonaut lead them out of the bedroom and back into the path of a secret organization with death and destruction on their mind. With a return of all our favorite supernaturals from the first book, and introducing some new star characters, Spellbound is full of action, magic, and romance, and is an excellent addition to the Fallen Messengers series.

I really enjoyed Cassius and Morgan’s introduction and adventure in the first book of this series, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Spellbound. The action in Fractured Souls was great, and I loved the ending, but clearly Argonaut’s job was just getting started. Salinger does a great job at picking up the story in Spellbound; Cassius’s relationships (both with Morgan and with the Argonaut’s team) have clearly grown since we last saw them, but Salinger seamlessly brings in a new storyline filled with new friends and enemies. I really liked the new character Eden; she came into her own in this book, and we saw such a great blending of previous plot information with brand new information. The more Salinger expands this urban fantasy world, the more I want to read about it. Obviously, the Fallen Messenger series predominantly focuses on Cassius and Morgan, but there are so many fantastic secondary and supporting characters in this series. The team at Argonauts is robust and well-developed, but my favorite characters in Spellbound are probably our two Dryads, Cedric and Galliad. Even new characters were quickly fleshed out, and Salinger’s action scenes are detailed and vivid.

I’m loving the buildup and the battle between the Fallen and their enemies, and I’m excited to see where Salinger takes Cassius and Morgan throughout the rest of the series. This expanding universe features angels, demons, magic and mages, all in an epic battle of good versus evil. Fans of urban fantasy and paranormal romance will not want to pass up this addition to the Fallen Messengers series.
